Milk and cookies are a childhood staple, right? The dynamic duo. A power couple. Batman and Robin. Who doesn’t have some memory of sitting at the table and dipping countless cookies into a glass of milk while watching a favorite cartoon? Or realizing that you accidentally just ate a whole sleeve of cookies without even trying?! Oreos, chocolate chip, sugar, oatmeal raisin, snickerdoodle. The list goes on forever, but regardless of your preference, we’re bound to kick your cookie craving into high gear with this Customer Feature. Can’t say we didn’t warn you!

Meet Mik, Las Vegas native and owner/cookie connoisseur at Mik and Cookies in Los Angeles. She specializes in designing the most beautiful custom cut cookies for all kinds of events and special occasions. Airbrushed with hand piped lettering and multi-layer icing combine to make them so stunning you almost forget that you get to eat them! You have an idea, Mik is going to bring it to life in a delicious cookie form. From holiday cookies to her favorite lingerie-inspired creations, Mik designs it all.

She doesn’t stop there either. Besides making custom cookies for clients, she also has a number of Youtube videos that show off her decorating skills and pro cookie baking tips. Online videos don’t work for you? Mik also teaches cookie classes in person. With a corporate background in leading teams and training sessions, hosting classes was an easy move to make. No matter what your experience level is, you’ll leave her class with great tips, tricks and of course, some delicious treats.

But let’s back up for a second. How did Mik jump on this cookie caravan?

Mik doesn’t have a grandmother that taught her the ancient art of cookie-making. While growing up, she actually had little experience baking. Her love for cookies really only blossomed a few years ago when she was working in a more corporate role. She’d bring in her delicious creations almost every Monday for a few months just to put a smile on some faces, and make the day feel a little less Mondayish, and of course, they were a hit. Her cookies were popular enough to start selling on the side and eventually, she was able to quit her job to pursue cookies full time. A leap of faith that she doesn’t regret one bit.

“Something in me just knew this was what I was meant to do.”

Diving into the world of entrepreneurs isn’t easy, but luckily Mik has a lot of inspiring women in her life, including her mom. “She’s been running her own very successful business since 2013, so she has been a great source for inspiration and motivation.” She also gains inspiration from the community of fellow cookie bakers, especially those on Instagram. “I wouldn’t have even started decorating cookies, to begin with, if it weren’t for Instagram,” Mik explained. “It introduced me to this community, and since then my page now introduces people into this world.”

From videos with over 500,000 views to long-lasting relationships and connections, Mik knows the power and love of the community. It speaks volumes to doing something you love for a living. People recognize authenticity and the love of a craft, and Mik and Cookies is bursting at the seams with that.

“I’m here to prove that no one has to fit into a specified role and that changing up your life plan doesn’t mean failure. A closed-door always leads you to a door with the greatest moments of your life lying behind it.”

Follow along with Mik on Instagram, Youtube, and at her website, mikandcookies.com. Big things to come in 2020!
