Meet Lucy, a creative on a mission to make genuine connections through her knowledge of color. Lucy, a talented graphic designer with an expertise in Color Theory, started making clay accessories prior to the 2020 pandemic. The creation of clay accessories was only meant to be a hobby. However, family and friends started to urge Lucy to pair her highly skilled craftsmanship, her creative knowledge, and who she was, to start her own business.

After a few family discussions, this then hobby was molded into her now business, Greda By Design. Lucy uses the word: Greda, meaning clay in Spanish, paired with her very unique color pallet as a base to shape and build the beginnings of her creative community.

Color Theory is the organization of hues by wavelength, that combines science and art using color. Lucy, having studied Color Theory, directly applied her knowledge to her business. The mustard, burnt orange, and cream hues that Lucy uses, were not randomly picked. Each color was carefully selected, meant to perfectly harmonize with one another, that seem to create a magnetic attraction from any onlooker. Knowing that colors can shape the way humans perceive things, Lucy’s pallet was built with the purpose to not only support the clay accessories she creates, but also spark the imagination, and creativity of others.

Aside from Lucy’s inspiration through the use of vintage colors, she also shared that she is dyslexic. Although, this learning disability, can have a negative connotation attached to it, Lucy uses her dyslexia as a source of power. Lucy uses Greda By Design as a way to channel her power, giving her the ability to view projects, from a different angle, that someone else might not have the ability to see.

Through her unique creations, all of which are made by hand, Lucy’s highly skilled craftsmanship, her creative knowledge, and who she is, perfectly embodies Greda By Design. As Lucy hopes to continue to grow her business, which has now branched into local stores, her sole mission is still to make genuine connections, all while wearing a stylish clay accessory.
